DryGuard sizing guide: how to measure and pick the right fit

Fit is the single biggest reason a pair of leak-proof underwear underperforms — a gusset that does not sit flat cannot pull liquid away fast enough. Five minutes with a tape measure fixes it, and if we still get it wrong, the exchange is free.

Measure in two minutes

You need a soft tape measure and a mirror. If you only have a rigid tape, use a piece of string and lay it against a ruler afterwards.

  • Waist — measure at your natural waist, just above the hip bones. Keep the tape level and snug, but do not pull it tight or hold your breath in.
  • Hips — measure around the fullest part of your seat, usually about 8 inches below the waist, with your feet together.
  • Measure over bare skin or thin underwear, standing normally, in the afternoon rather than first thing in the morning.
  • Write both numbers down before you look at the chart — deciding your size first and then measuring defeats the point.

Waist measurement is the primary guide; hip measurement is the tie-breaker. If your two measurements fall into different sizes, order the larger of the two.

DryGuard leak-proof underwear fitted on the body showing the flat absorbent gusset
A correct fit: gusset flat against the body, waistband sitting without digging in.

Six pairs covers a full laundry cycle — and costs less than 4 months of pads.

Between sizes, or between shapes

Bodies are not tubes, and the chart is only a starting point. Three common situations and what to do about each:

  • Smaller waist, fuller hips — order for the hip measurement. The waistband has more stretch tolerance than the leg openings.
  • Fuller waist, narrower hips — order for the waist. A high-rise brief that rolls at the top is the fastest route to a leak at the front.
  • Sensitive stomach, hernia or C-section scar — size up one. The waistband then sits above the area rather than pressing on it.
  • Between two sizes with no strong preference — size up. A relaxed fit keeps the core flat; a tight fit stretches it thin.

How to check the fit at home before you commit

Put a pair on dry and run three checks. First, sit down and stand up: the waistband should stay put without rolling. Second, slide two fingers under the leg elastic — you should be able to, but only just. Third, look for a flat gusset with no bunching in the crotch; bunching means the pair is too small, and gaping at the leg means it is too large.

You can run every one of these checks and still keep your right to a refund. Wearing and washing a pair does not void the guarantee.

How many pairs, and in which sizes

Most customers rotate a set: one pair on, one in the wash, one in the drawer. Six pairs is the point at which you stop thinking about laundry timing, which is why it is the most-ordered bundle.

If you are genuinely unsure between two sizes, order a multi-pair bundle and email us on the day it arrives — we will swap the unworn pairs for the other size at no cost, so you effectively get a fitting session with no risk.

Free exchanges, spelled out

Email support@buydryguard.com with your order number and the size you want instead. We dispatch the replacement within the same week and confirm with a tracking number. Worn pairs stay with you — for hygiene reasons we do not ask for them back. There is no restocking fee, no return label to print, and no limit of one exchange per customer within the 90-day window.

What women say after 30 days

I stopped planning my day around the bathroom

After my hysterectomy I leaked every time I coughed. Pads shifted and smelled. My first DryGuard pair held through a two-hour walk and I honestly cried a little. I've worn nothing else for four months.

Nobody can tell — that was the whole point

They look and feel like regular briefs under leggings. No crinkle, no bulk, no smell. My daughter borrowed a pair postpartum and immediately ordered her own.
Denise R., 58Sarasota, FL · Verified buyer

Saved me about £40 a month on pads

I washed the first set over 60 times and they still hold. It paid for itself in the second month. Ordered the 10 pair so I never have to think about laundry day again.
