DryGuard complaints: the four we actually get, and what causes them

Around 3% of our reviews are three stars or below. Rather than bury them, here is exactly what those customers said, what caused it, and what we do about it. If one of these is a dealbreaker for you, better to know before you order.

Complaint 1 — sizing runs true, not generous

This is the single biggest source of unhappy first orders. Our waistband is bonded flat so it does not dig or roll under clothes, which also means it will not stretch two inches to rescue a size that was too small.

Fix: measure your natural waist with a tape rather than going by the size on your jeans, and size up if you are between two. Exchanges are free, ship the same week, and you keep the original pair while the new one is in transit.

Complaint 2 — capacity expectations

Each pair holds up to 30 ml, roughly six teaspoons — a full stress-leak release, and enough for most urge leaks. It is not an overnight heavy-incontinence product and we do not market it as one.

Almost every leak-through report we investigate turns out to be continuous or nighttime heavy leakage. If that is your situation, DryGuard is the wrong purchase and we will say so before you order rather than process a refund later.

Complaint 3 — delivery time to some addresses

We dispatch within 24 hours, but the last-mile carrier adds two to four days for rural US addresses and 6–12 business days internationally. Tracking is emailed on dispatch so the wait is at least visible.

If a parcel stalls for more than five days beyond the estimate, contact support and we ship a replacement rather than asking you to wait on a carrier investigation.

Complaint 4 — absorbency dropped after a few washes

This one is nearly always fabric softener. Softener works by coating fibres in a thin waxy layer, which is exactly the opposite of what an absorbent core needs — liquid beads up and runs off instead of wicking in.

  • Never use fabric softener or dryer sheets
  • No bleach — it breaks down the core fibres permanently
  • Cold rinse straight after wearing, then a cold gentle machine wash
  • Hang dry, or tumble on the lowest heat setting
  • Already coated? Two hot washes with detergent and no softener usually restores it

What we changed because of complaints

Complaints are the only free product research there is, so we act on the patterns.

  • Added a measured size chart with waist ranges in inches and centimetres after early sizing returns
  • Rewrote the care card to lead with the no-softener rule instead of burying it
  • Made size exchanges free in both directions, with no restocking fee
  • Stated the 30 ml capacity in plain terms everywhere rather than using vague 'all-day' language

How to raise a problem and what happens next

Email support@buydryguard.com with your order number and what went wrong. A person replies within one business day. Exchanges go out the same week; refunds are approved on request within 90 days of delivery and cover pairs you have already worn and washed — you do not need to send worn underwear back.

What women say after 30 days

I stopped planning my day around the bathroom

After my hysterectomy I leaked every time I coughed. Pads shifted and smelled. My first DryGuard pair held through a two-hour walk and I honestly cried a little. I've worn nothing else for four months.

Nobody can tell — that was the whole point

They look and feel like regular briefs under leggings. No crinkle, no bulk, no smell. My daughter borrowed a pair postpartum and immediately ordered her own.
Denise R., 58Sarasota, FL · Verified buyer

Saved me about £40 a month on pads

I washed the first set over 60 times and they still hold. It paid for itself in the second month. Ordered the 10 pair so I never have to think about laundry day again.
